Integrated Annual Work Program, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority
Washington, D.C.

DMJM+HARRIS, in association with four other firms, is providing a broad array of services to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) in support of its five-year Integrated Annual Work Program (IAWP). The IAWP ranges from small repair and rehabilitation projects to major new stations and line extensions. Major projects being completed under the IAWP include the following:

New York Avenue Station: This $120 million project includes design of a new station on WMATA’s Red Line in downtown Washington, D.C. This is WMATA’s first in-fill station on the 103-mile system. Our design work includes staging plans to ensure the smooth cutover of the station into the existing system.
Largo Extension: This $350 million project involves a 3-mile, two-station addition to the Blue Line in Maryland. The alignment includes at-grade, elevated, and tunnel sections. The project is being advanced as a design/ build project, with three major contracts for site work, line and systems, and station packages.
Dulles Corridor Rapid Transit Project: The $2 billion project is a 24-mile extension of the WMATA system, comprising an entirely new line from West Falls Church in Virginia, through Tysons Corner, to Dulles International Airport, and into Loudoun County. DMJM is currently providing preliminary engineering and EIS documentation to secure federal approval and funding. The project includes Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in the first phase of implementation.

DMJM+HARRIS is providing a complete range of services, including program management; civil, structural, and systems design; urban planning and architectural design; complete environmental analysis and documentation; patronage forecasting; operating plans; capital and operating and maintenance cost estimates; and development of a financial plan for integrated federal and nonfederal funding.
