The Port of Los Angeles commissioned DMJM+HARRIS to provide construction management services for a new passenger terminal to accommodate the growing popularity of cruise vacations and destinations. In providing full support for the cruise lines, the new terminal is capable of handling two vessels simultaneously. It also provides the facilities needed by U.S. Customs, the Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Immigration and Naturalization.. The project contains 60,000 square feet of enclosed space and 25,000 square feet of covered canopy upper-level concourse surface. Parking space is provided for buses, taxis, and delivery vehicles.

Built on a steel frame with plaster finish, the cruise center features ceramic tile–clad columns, acoustical ceiling, gypsum board wall systems, skylights, exterior benches, and galvanized metal rails and stairs. The building recalls an art deco maritime architectural style, with an emphasis on tropical colors of white, blue, and orange.
