Alameda Corridor Program Management
Los Angeles, California
DMJM+HARRIS, leading a joint venture, is providing
program management, conceptual development, and engineering
services to the Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority
(ACTA), the Port of Los Angeles, and the Port of Long
Beach.
The Alameda Corridor is a consolidated railroad link
between the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and
downtown Los Angeles. Once completed, it will reduce
congestion at over 200 at-grade railroad/highway crossings,
while consolidating 90 miles of branch line tracks currently
used by the Union Pacific (UP) and the Atchison, Topeka
and Santa Fe (Santa Fe) railroads. The corridor is grade-separated
as currently proposed, and consists of a center depressed
section with each end section at grade.
Since the late 1980s, the joint venture has developed
conceptual designs, conducted preliminary engineering,
conducted highway and railroad capacity studies, evaluated
alternative routes and designs, prepared environmental
reports, and performed program management services for
the development of the Alameda Corridor project.
As a mitigation project for the growth of the ports,
the Alameda Corridor will include the following railroad
features:
