Google Announces Exciting AdWords Updates
June 8, 2016
For the last four years, Google has hosted a Performance Summit, where they announce the newest updates to both AdWords and Google Analytics. This year we were fortunate to tune in to the hour-long livestream and boy, we learned a lot! These three main AdWords updates will enhance the overall performance of your ads.
#1: Text Ads
Finally! Google confirmed that they’re soon launching expanded text ads in AdWords. The new format will now allow for 140 characters: two 30-character headlines and one 80-character line of description copy vs. the current 95 characters: a 25-character headline and two 35-character description lines. The character changes will help advertisers reach their audiences with more effective and detailed ads.
#2: Display Ads
Mobile display advertising (those ads you see on games or websites) has skyrocketed. Google is rolling out two new options– responsive display ads and a tool to build your ads. The responsive ads will automatically resize and adjust to the look and feel of the page and device you’re using. The building tool will design ads for you. Simply provide Google with all content i.e. headlines, a description, an image, and URL – they’ll take care of the rest! We are hopeful that these changes will simplify the design process for an ever-growing mobile marketing.
#3: User Interface
In addition, the overall design and layout of AdWords is getting a colossal makeover. New navigation will make it easier for users’ to cruise around the program and experience highly accessible new features at their fingertips. The program is designed to be more efficient and help advertisers focus their time on essential tasks. As a whole, the revamp is intended for an ultimate user-friendly experience – something Google takes pride in!
Google is endlessly working to be the frontrunner of the text and display ad market. This year’s Performance Summit validated that their technology is cutting edge and will enable advertisers to take advantage of all that AdWords has to offer. We’re eager to implement the new updates for our clients and are anxiously awaiting 2017’s keynote presentation. Happy advertising!
